Post Birthday

Monday was my birthday and I’m really grateful for all the kind, loving, and supportive friends I have. I celebrated with my roommate’s family (it was her mom’s birthday too), and had a wonderful time. During the car ride back to Rexburg, I got a call from my dad (who also shares a birthday with me) and we talked for a while before getting cut off driving though the mountains. When my two friends and I got back to campus I spent some time reading through all my Facebook messages from friends and loved ones wishing me happy birthday and was really a sweet way to end the day.

In my last post I mentioned a committee deciding whether or not I’d get financial aid this semester. I got the news last Friday (the 5th) and I was told they neither approved nor denied my appeal, so I didn’t get financial aid. As a result, where I previously thought I’d have to deal with only a little tuition to pay, I’m now going to have to pay all of it plus the interest from this semester. Needless to say I’ve been very frustrated by that news.

I’m going to take some time next semester and work so I can pay off this semester and save up for my next semester. I’ve been working really hard not to buy anything on credit right now, since I don’t have any income, because I worked so hard to clear it a couple months ago. But after a lot of thought and some research, I’m probably going to stay in this apartment complex and work nearby. I thought about moving for a while, but I’d rather not move again and I think this could work right now. I’ve got my tax return coming sometime, and I think that’ll cover next semester’s rent once it processes to my bank. I’ve also potentially got a job over break helping clean out apartments. I’m turning in my application today for that.

I’ve also set up a Patreon account! For those of you who don’t know what that is, let me explain. Patreon is a service designed to help support people who create stuff. I’ve got some funding goals up, and you can pledge anything from $2 up! (You could pledge less, but then you won’t get all the cool perks!) Pledges are like a monthly subscription. Every month, at the first of the month, you’ll pay me, and I’ll send you cool stuff. I’m really excited for this service.

Anyways, I’ll keep everyone updated if anything else happens. Thanks again for all your support, even if it’s just through hits on this site.
