Soda From a Transformers Cup

(See? I made a pun, because one of my favorite songs is called Champagne from a Paper Cup by Death Cab for Cutie. But I’m drinking orange soda from my Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen cup.)

My youngest brother made it home from the hospital yesterday afternoon, which we are super grateful about. He’s on a lot of pain meds, but he’s doing well over all.

This week I have been spending a lot of time unpacking boxes in the garage and repacking my suitcases. I was planning on picking up bedding and extra stuff like that once I got to Florida, but I’ve since decided that that’s going to cost more then I really think I’ll have free to spend. As a result about half of one of my suitcases is full of bedding and I’m working on figuring out how to get a pillow or two in there.

I should be getting an email from the Disney College Program sometime this weekend allowing me to start signing up for the room that I’ll be living in while in Florida. I’ll be getting roommate assignments too, which I’m a little nervous about, but I’m sure it’ll work out fine.

In the process of packing, I’ve also made two really serious decisions.

  1. I really don’t feel like going and buying shorts. I don’t like shorts, I don’t really enjoy wearing them. I think most longer shorts are not flattering on almost anyone, and I overall don’t feel like trying to go shopping before I leave. Instead, I’ve been making skirts. I’m working on hemming the first one, and will be starting the second later tonight. It’ll be nice to break up some of the black in my wardrobe, and give me more options of things to wear.
  2. I don’t think I’m going to buy anything for Halloween. The more I think about trying to get a costume, and maybe not even being able to use it at all this year, the more I don’t want to go through with it. Not only that, but I’ve been struggling on deciding on a good costume that wouldn’t require 80+ hours of  sewing. Although, I have come up with some really great ideas that I’ll probably just save for my next convention or next Halloween. I am going to bring some of my costume makeup (latex, fake blood, face paints) in case I do get an opportunity to dress up this year. (And if I decide I do have some spare money, and an opportunity to use a costume, maybe I’ll finally cave and get the Spidey suit off Amazon.com that I’ve had my eyes on for so long.)

As for the Drawing Challenge, I have found another one, but I’m not sure it’s my favorite. It’s a Monster Girl drawing challenge I found on tumblr a few weeks ago. It has some cute prompts, but nothing that looks like it’ll be really worth talking about or challenging at all for me. For now, I’m still looking.

This week I’ve also gotten a day job for the next week working at the Dentist’s office where I had my first job. I’ll be doing face painting and balloon animals, probably some paperwork filing too. It’s such a blessing that I’ll get to work there for a few days, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity. It’ll do a ton to help my budget for the first few weeks up there. The internship is a paid internship, but on their website they recommend having enough money to handle any expenses for the first 2-3 weeks your there, since it’ll take about that long to get registered in the system to get a paycheck.

I’ll also be working as a babysitter and doing some small chores for people I know. I’m really grateful for the opportunity to work and earn a little bit of extra money while I’m in town.
